Winery Hiring Flat in August
Winery hiring was flat in August, with Winejobs.com's Winery Job Index sitting at 294, a point less than a year earlier. While demand for vineyard workers saw the strongest growth, rising 80% in the run-up to harvest, sales and marketing and finance positions saw demand weaken 31% and 30%, respectively. General administration staff saw strong growth, with activity up 54%.

The Winery Job Index was 294 in August, even with a year ago.

 

Demand for winemaking positions fell 1% in August, with the subindex sitting at 300. This was the lowest level of the year for the index.

 

Demand for sales and marketing positions fell 31% in August to a subindex reading of just 135.

 

Demand for direct-to-consumer positions, including tasting room and retail staff, increased 4% in August to a subindex reading of 580.
